About me

Kitchen has always been my favorite corner of the whole house. My first creation was when I was 5 years old. it was a pizza with onions and tomatoes that I made with help of my mother as I was not tall enough to get to the kitchen counter top. At that time, pizza was a very foreign food in India and no one had any clue how to make it. My mother did the research and thought it would be a good idea to make use of our rarely used aluminum cake oven. We used homemade cottage cheese, as processed cheese was not available in any local grocery store. Well, the pizza was obviously what an Italian would not eat but it was definitely an achievement for me and my mother. And that was the start of my kitchen adventures and there has been no turning back. I have travelled to quite a few places within India, the UK and USA. I now live in the US with my husband who supports me with my blogging and is the taster of my kitchen inventions. I have picked up a different approach toward flavors & techniques as I got introduced to new cuisines.

Cooking is what makes us so different and unique. My theory is that cooking came into existence due to either someone’s mistake or a natural disaster. It is possible that the first form of cooking was barbecuing due to forest fires or someone dropping the hunt of the day in the fire by mistake while cheerfully sharing stories about their bravery around a fire!! As mankind evolved and civilized, other elements like air and water were also incorporated into new cooking methods; air for baking fluffy breads and water for stewing and so on.

In this food blog I intend to bring world cuisine to everybody’s kitchen, be it a quick weeknight meal or an elaborate and fancy one. As the globe is getting smaller day by day, different cuisines are penetrating into different regions of the world. I come from a country where natural resources are in abundance; in fact it is so abundant that the country produces fruits and vegetables that grow in high mountains to spices that need a very tropical climate to flourish. The country is so varied that each region’s cooking oil differs due to the availability of its source. Yes, it is India and I have grown up enjoying the different flavors that different regions offer. I want everyone to value and enjoy not only the spices of India but also the cheese from the West. Here I will show you how to make signature recipes with hints of east and west. Needless to say every recipe will be a surprise. My recipes will have substitutes listed so that you can use locally produced ingredients.

I hope you enjoy the recipes and inspire others to cook more and spend more time with family. After all, nothing is more important than happy moments with loved ones and what brings everyone together better than some delicious gastronomy.
